Well, now I've been home from the hospital for a week. Surgery went textbook well. Chest pains all gone. Physical Therapy has begun. I'm getting pretty good at typing one-handed. Still make lots of mistakes and don't always feel like correcting them; but I'm getting faster with my communications skills. I've learned all kinds of things to do one handed; but there are just some things you need two hands for. Like opening child-resistant prescription bottles. And flossing! I had to buy those things that look like y's with floss between them. Getting my whole hand clean when I wash my hand. Putting on my "foundation". Shaving my arm-pit. (sorry to be indelicate...) Tying my shoes.
There's a big list of things I've had to learn to do with only my left hand. Like eat. I don't even need a bib any more, haha! Getting dressed is an adventure. So far I've continued to wear my big-shirts that I bought at Goodwill before my surgery. They button up. Tee shirts are down the healing road a ways. Taking a shower is an ordeal. Getting clean is getting easier, but getting all the way dry is still a challenge. I'm so thankful that this is only temporary. Washing dishes can be done but I can't get them dry. I can't multi-task any more by being on the phone and computer at the same time. And having a roller ball mouse is helpful when I'm on the computer. Laptop? Not hardly!
Thanks for your prayers, warm wishes and calls. Please feel free to stop by and sit a spell in our air conditioned comfort. I'm starting to go a little stir-crazy!

Glad your doing much better, I know as you type more you'll become better with the one hand. Enjoy your week!
